'Medical Conditions at School: A Policy Resource Pack' is a resource that aims to help your school to implement a tailored and effective medical conditions policy and include and support all pupils with medical conditions.

The pack has been written to assist policy makers in primary and secondary schools to implement a tailored and effective medical conditions policy. The registration and guidance it references and takes into account are relevant to schools in England.

Who produced it?

'Medical Conditions at School: A Policy Resource Pack' has been produced by a collaboration of organisations representing children and young people with medical conditions: The Anaphylaxis Campaign, Asthma UK, Diabetes UK, Epilepsy Action and the Long Term Conditions Alliance.

This section sets out the essential points of a school medical conditions policy. This should be used as the framework for your school’s policy. It is important that your medical conditions policy incorporates all these elements.

Policy example and guidelines

This section provides further detail on each numbered point in the policy framework and provides examples of how your school could implement and maintain an effective medical conditions policy. It has been written and designed to make it easy for you to identify relevant action points for discussion with colleagues and to incorporate into your own policy. This section should be kept to help your school review and update the policy.
